I’ve wanted to read Brave New World by Aldous Huxley for several years now. I was intrigued back when the YA dystopian craze was still thriving. Though this novel isn’t YA, it is a dystopian. My sister had to read it in school, but it hadn’t been a part of the curriculum when I was in high school. Someday I’ll finally take the plunge and read this novel. But not today.
I’ve also wanted to read 1984 by George Orwell for a while. I’m super into speculative fiction from the past that is eerily similar to our world now. Plus, I have some tangential knowledge of this book, like the whole “Big Brother” thing. I was hesitant to read this for a long while because we read Animal Farm in tenth grade and I hated it. But hopefully this will be better. You know, when I actually get around to reading it.

I hate dystopians, but I enjoyed 1984 a lot more than I thought I would. Which is why I also picked up a copy of Brave New World, which I still haven’t read and probably never will. At least I’m on brand with my book buying fails. Thank you for sharing my post! 😊

Yeah, I’m sick of dystopians too. I haven’t read one in years. But perhaps it’s because I was mainly reading and seeing generic YA dystopians.

I loved 19894! It’s honestly such an interesting novel. It’s so deep and extremely intelligent. I hated Animal Farm too. I really liked 1984 much more and I hope you do too! And thank you so much for including my post on your blog hop. I’m glad you enjoyed reading it!

Oof, these two are not comfortable reads. There was a time I hated both of them (I still kinda hate Brave New World lol), but they are very eye-opening and plot-driven, so I think you won’t have a difficult time with them at all! They’re VERY interesting. 🙂

I usually hate dystopians but I adored 1984. It really shows a different side that society could be.
