G’Day, Strangers! When I went searching for tags to do, I found this marvelous one. I mean, a tag all about creating your own villain squad? Right up my alley! However, I’m not just sticking to books with this one. There are too many other fantastic villains in all sorts of entertainment media that I can’t limit myself to one format. But that’s enough explanation. Let’s get on with the post! Read on… if you dare.
- Create your own villain persona (name, skills, etc.).
I will be called Monstress and I’ll be a shapeshifter. I’ve always wanted to be a shapeshifter and I just know I could use that ability for evil. I turned evil because I first went vigilante and took down bad guys, but I became so embittered I now hate everyone and want humanity destroyed.
- The Leader- Pick a villain to lead the squad.
Glory from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She’s an actual god and was almost impossible to defeat. Hell, she’d still be alive and thriving if Buffy didn’t figure out the thing about the Summers blood in time. That timing was almost dumb luck. She’s fabulous and knows how to run shit. She was the biggest Big Bad on Buffy and she’d be the biggest Big Bad on our squad.
- The Killer Smile- Pick a villain who’s just extremely attractive.
Queen Levana Blackburn from The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer. Granted, her beauty is a glamour, but she’s still gorgeous. Plus, I mean, her Lunar gift would really come in handy.
- The Loose Canon- Pick a villain that marches to the beat of their own drum.
The Darkling from the Grisha trilogy by Leigh Bardugo. He’s my pick for this one because he doesn’t view himself as a villain. He even tells Alina, “Fine, make me your villain.” He’s the epitome of that old adage, “The villain is the hero of their own story.” He genuinely believes he’s doing what’s best for his people. Plus, he’s got awesome darkness powers, as well as his magical ability, so he’d be great in a fight.
- The Unhinged One- Pick a villain that isn’t pulling with a full deck.
As if this could be anyone other than Bellatrix Lestrange from Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling. She’s totally batshit. She’s devoted to chaos and to whatever cause her leader promotes. She’s a scary one to have by your side, but a useful one.
- The Redeemer- Pick a villain that’s on the path of redemption/would play both sides.
Darth Motherfucking Vader from Star Wars (obviously). And his inner Anakin Skywalker. Despite helping overthrow the emperor, we never get to see him complete his redemption arc. But I think he’d fit this role great. Hell, he was halfway there as a Jedi! I think he’d blur the lines between a Jedi and a Sith, finding a happy medium. Plus, I mean, HE’S DARTH FUCKING VADER.
- The Evil One- Pick a villain that is just bad to the bone.
Sebastian Morgenstern from The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare. I mean, he has literal demon blood. He was never going to be good. He doesn’t even understand what it means to be good or to love. He’s just a dark, dark guy. Plus, he’s clever so.
- The Once-Was-Good- Pick a villain that didn’t originally start as a villain.
Adelina Amouteru from The Young Elites series by Marie Lu. Originally, she just wanted to be loved and appreciated. She just wanted to feel welcome and to belong. But, when she’s blamed for the death of her first love, she feels abandoned and betrayed. And so, naturally, she sets off to recruit her own young elites for a new society and sets her sights on the throne. As you do. Her killer illusion powers would come in handy and would allow our villain squad to create far more elaborate and far-reaching illusions, between her and Levana.
So, are you scared yet? Haha! (Was that a regular laugh or an evil laugh? You’ll never know.) What would be a good name for my squad? Who would you want on your villainous team? Let me know in the comments!
Beware, Strangers!
I mean, be safe!
No, I don’t.
