Favorite Friday is a meme in which I discuss some of my favorite things. Some Fridays it’ll be based on a topic, while others it’ll just be about some of my recent favorites.
I love Halloween. I love October. I love spooky season! In fact, it’s my favorite time of year. I love it more than Christmas— I even love it more than my birthday! It really speaks to my inner cryptid.
There aren’t words to explain why I love Halloween so much. However, I can point to a few things about spooky season that especially speak to me. What are they?

Candy Corn

I grew up on Brach’s candy corn. Well, technically I grew up on Indian corn. Or, as it’s now known, harvest corn. This year I’ve really gotten into their pumpkin candies. Tangentially, I love Hershey’s candy corn white chocolate bars. Most candy you can have any time of year, but it’s seasonal candy I’m a slut for.

Costumes

We all have an inner child. I think maybe that’s the reason even adults love to dress up for Halloween. It’s fun to become someone other than yourself, if only for a night. I also love seeing other people’s costumes, especially when they get creative. If you make your own costumes, I’ve got so much respect for your hustle.

Spooky

My entire aesthetic is the Halloween aesthetic. Due to this, October is the only month I’m truly alive. I love the darkness, the ghosts, the skeletons, the jack-o-lanterns, the blood, the everything. I mean, you’re talking to the girl who loves a good horror movie, who watches Ghost Adventures year-round, and who owns more clothes in the color black than any other. I live for stories about death magic and thrive after dark. The spooky aspect of Halloween is my bread and butter.

Pumpkins

Okay, so this is more of a fall thing than a spooky thing. But this is my blog, so I say it counts. I love pumpkin and pumpkin spice-flavored anything. Except pumpkin spice lattes, which I’m actually not crazy about. Pumpkins are just hella dope.
Do you love Halloween? What are your favorite things about it? Let me know in the comments!
