Favorite Friday is a meme in which I discuss some of my favorite things. Some Fridays it’ll be based on a topic, while others it’ll just be about some of my recent favorites.
I could’ve been a book blog but, as you know, music is the other cornerstone of my personality. As such, I decided to make my blog a pop culture blog… on which I still mostly talk about books.
But music has been important to me my whole life. Hell, I even spent a few years dreaming of becoming a pop star. Alas, I have no musical talent. But that doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate it.
Enter this week’s FF topic: my all-time favorite albums. Over the years, certain albums have really stuck with me as timeless classics. These records strike a chord in me, resonating deeply. These aren’t just good albums— they’re a way of life. There is not a single bad song on any of these records. They are, in a word, perfection.
But what are these albums that I love so dearly? Well, I’ll tell you.
My Chemical Romance have gone down in history as one of the most iconic emo bands, but this album proves they’re so much more than that. They’re geniuses who created a masterpiece. Also, I deserve a musical/rock opera based on this album.
After years of Here We Go Again remaining Lovato’s best album, TMYLM finally came along and dethroned it. This is the kind of music I’ve always wanted from Lovato. It’s honest, it’s emotional, it’s vocally out of this stratosphere. Pop/R&B is where Demetria Devonne Lovato belongs.
Despite only coming out a year ago, this record is a staple in my repertoire. Want singer-songwriter level lyricism with the swagger of an alternative pop princess? Look no further than Amy Shark’s debut. It’s the kind of album you play on repeat.
Everyone unanimously agrees that Stripped is Aguilera’s best album. And everyone is absolutely right. How is it possible to nail so many genres on one record? And with breathtaking vocals and vivid lyrics to boot? Well, all you have to do is be the woman, the myth, the legend: Christina Aguilera.
Paramore, like MCR, is a well-known band from the emo era. But they, like MCR, are so much more. They’re artists, and their magnum opus is their 2009 studio release. I mean, this record has everything: superb vocals, emotional lyrics, and fantastic instrumentals. Brand New Eyes is an absolute gem.
You know those albums that make you wonder, “How will this artist ever top this?” Stripped is one of them; Vessel is another. This is TOP at their best. It hits their favorite themes of mental health and wellness the best out of all their albums and feels the most authentic. They are twenty one pilots, and so are we.
Do you agree with me on any of these albums? What are some of your favorite albums of all time? Give me some recommendations in the comments!
