Book Meme: WWW Wednesday (#5)

WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Sam of Taking on a World of Words. It’s basically a fun way to update your readers on your current reading. The questions are based on the Three Ws:

  1. What are you currently reading?
  2. What did you recently finish reading?
  3. What do you think you’ll read next?

Currently Reading
The Space Between Worlds by Micaiah Johnson

Interdimensional travel? A F/F relationship? An indigenous author? There are so many things that drew me to this book and so far, Johnson is delivering on all of them. I’m only about four chapters in (because I’m an old lady who keeps getting sleepy while reading), but I’m already feeling a 4-5 star rating.

Recently Finished
In the Dream House by Carmen Maria Machado

Machado takes different genres and lenses through which to examine her abusive relationship with her ex-girlfriend in a way that makes this more than merely a recounting. The most haunting part is the continued use of the second person— Machado is talking to her past self, but the reader feels as though they are living through the torment she suffered. As a lesbian, I especially appreciated insight into the sad reality we too can face and why our abuse often goes unrecognized. In the Dream House is easily one of the best memoirs I’ve ever read.

Reading Next
The Year of the Witching by Alexis Henderson

I was hoping to read at least one more book before October, but at my current pace I probably won’t. That means it’s time to dive into my spooky October TBR! I’ll be posting a full TBR later this month, but as of now I think this dark, witchy tale will be my first spooky read.

What have you been reading lately? Let me know in the comments!

  1. The Year of the Witchling looks so good! What better time to read it than spooky October. On my October TBR is Orphan of Cemetery Hill by Hester Fox. Can’t beat a good witchy book for Halloween month. Happy reading 🙂
