I’ve made it no secret that I’m a huge fan of Star Wars. I love it, warts and all. I watch the movies and shows and read the books and graphic novels. Star Wars is a part of my brand.
Last night I finished watching The Mandalorian and, as can be expected, I loved it. But it got me thinking— what other Star Wars characters would be fun to explore in a show? Well, the answer is all of them, but today I’m going to talk about the one I’m most interested in learning more about or seeing in action.

Doctor Chelli Aphra
Aphra is one of my favorite Star Wars characters of all time. She’s a lesbian archaeologist out to make a quick buck. The best way to describe her would be a chaotic neutral Indiana Jones. I want her to have a show so bad, but I don’t trust Disney to do it because they’ll erase her lesbianism. So for now I’m content with her staying within the graphic novels and being a morally bankrupt sapphic queen.

Kaydel Ko Connix
Do I mainly just want her to have a spin-off because she’s played by Billie Lourd? Yes. I just think it would be such a cool way to honor her mother’s legacy (RIP Carrie Fisher). But also, if I’m correct, she’s one half of the lesbian kiss in The Rise of Skywalker. This would be a great way for Disney to begin to make amends for all that queerbaiting and exclusion. I’m just saying.

Lando Calrissian
He’s just such a cool character! Solo barely scratches the surface with his character. I want to know more about his youthful escapades. I want to follow him on capers. And I want him to be canonically pansexual. Technically, he is, but in a Dumbledore kind of way. I don’t know if Donald Glover would be interested in reprising the role in show format, but I’d love it if he did.

Rose Tico
I think we can all agree that Rose was done so dirty in The Rise of Skywalker. She had three minutes of screen time. Three measly minutes. I’d love to see a post-TROS show where she helps to rebuild the Republic. Sadly, John Boyega and Oscar Isaac have both said they won’t reprise their roles so their characters wouldn’t appear, but I think it has some real potential. And hey, the director of Crazy Rich Asians is down!

Finn’s Parents
Finn is another character from the sequel trilogy with question marks around his character. Where is his family? Why doesn’t he want to know who they are? His origins are just as much as mystery as Rey’s were. A show following his parents could answer at least some of those questions. Maybe they were rebels. Maybe they were royalty (Prince Finn is a common fan theory, after all). This is also another opportunity, as with a Lando show, to bring black characters to the forefront. I think it would be really cool to follow some new characters, characters who end up giving life to Finn.
What Star Wars characters do you think deserve a show? Tell me in the comments!
I love Rose too!
