Top 5 Tuesday: Series I Haven’t Finished

Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly book discussion with a new topic every Tuesday hosted by Meeghan of Meeghan Reads. It’s each blogger’s job to pick five book-related things (though you’re welcome to pick things from other media, if necessary) that fit the topic.

This week’s topic is series you haven’t finished yet and I have… a lot. I’ve left most of them behind, but there are a few I still plan on continuing. These are the five I want to prioritize.

The Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco

Guys, I started The Shadowglass, the final book in the series, back in 2019. At least, I’m pretty sure it was 2019. Maybe it was 2018. I can’t remember. I didn’t finish it because I wasn’t in the mood at the time and I haven’t gone back because I haven’t been in the mood since. But I will finish it someday. I do really like this series. I think a lot of my reluctance has been because of my YA burnout. Maybe I should just reread the whole thing.

Swords and Fire by Melissa Caruso

I really enjoyed The Tethered Mage when I read it a couple years ago. I have the next two, but just haven’t read them yet. It’s a really underrated series, one that I think others should read. It’s a Venetian-inspired world, which is super dope.

His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman

Yes, that’s right. I haven’t finished this iconic middle grade/YA series. I liked The Golden Compass, but decided to take a break before continuing. And… I guess I’m still on that break. I’ve heard nothing but good things about the rest of this series and suspect it just gets better as it goes.

Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan

I finally read the first book in this series last year and was pleasantly surprised. I’ve actually been waiting for the second book to come out in paperback before continuing, which I think is happening soon. Sadly, we don’t know when book three will come out, since the James Patterson Presents imprint is no longer publishing books not released under Patterson’s name (but if this has changed, let me know).

Winternight Trilogy by Katherine Arden

I honestly don’t know why I haven’t continued this series yet. I liked The Bear & the Nightingale. I’ve heard the series gets better with each book. I just… haven’t picked it up yet.

What are some series you haven’t finished yet? Tell me about them in the comments!
